Práce popisuje prostorovou strukturu molekul bílkovin a databází uchovávajících representace této struktury, či její hierarchické klasifikace. Je poskytnut přehled současných metod výpočetní predikce struktury bílkovin, přičemž největší pozornost je soustředěna na komparativní modelování. Tato metoda je rovněž v základní podobě implementována a na závěr její implementace analyzována.This work describes the three dimensional structure of protein molecules and biological databases used to store information about this structure or its hierarchical classification. Current methods of computational structure prediction are overviewed with an emphasis on comparative modeling. This particular method is also implemented in a proof-of-concept program and finally, the implementation is analysed.

This dissertation is about power, humour and various comic and ironic strategies contemporary Native writers and artists apply in their works to challenge the outdated Indian stereotypes and obsolete systems of cultural and aesthetic representation. The artists employ a combination of comedy and irony as favoured modes of expression in order to contest, subvert and critically deconstruct the oppressive hegemonic ideologies and power structures still present in Canada and the United States. Their novels, poetry, essays, films, documentaries, theatre performances, paintings and other works of art strive to emphasize the marginalization and rights of all Native people in North America who have suffered over the hundreds of years of colonization, acculturation and violent cultural appropriation. In the last decade, there have been growing calls from academia, Native communities as well as the government, to reconceptualise the bi-cultural politics between the First Nation peoples and the Canadian nation-state. A great amount of models for an inclusionary and multifaceted identity politics have been proposed by several Canadian cultural analysts and critics, including for example Diana Brydon, Smaro Kamboureli, and Lily Cho. Memory Management in Linux

    No full text
This work describes the memory manager subsystem of the linux kernel. The first part gives a brief account of operating systems architecture and memory management theory - of virtual memory management, page tables, page replacement algorithms and kernel allocators in particular. The second part discusses the actual implementation of these principles in a modern kernel - in linux. Finally, a series of tests stressing the memory subsystem is conducted to determine the memory manager's real behaviour. Limitations of the current linux kernel memory management and some of their proposed solutions are also discussed

summary:The aim of the paper is to show some possible statistical solution of the estimation of the dispersion of the GPS receiver. The presented method (based on theory of linear model with additional constraints of type I) can serve for an improvement of the accuracy of estimators of coordinates acquired from the GPS receiver

Verification and estimation of uncertainties of Tobias Mayer's 18th century astronomical observations

Perceiving the uncertainty of the measurement has been changing over the past centuries, reflecting the advancement in the experimental techniques, the urge for reliable and reproducible measurement methodology, and development of mathematical data processing and evaluating algorithms. From the historical perspective, the concepts of considering the measurement uncertainty were firstly introduced with geographic and cartographic measurements. In this context, the works of Tobias Mayer on lunar landscape measurements are widely highlighted which, at that time, presented innovative approaches in data processing with the method of averages and pioneeringly addressed the issue of measurement error. In this study, we analyze in details the Mayer’s set of 27 non-linear equations with 3 unknown parameters and discuss the effect of Mayer’s linearization and subsequent mathematical procedures on the accuracy of the parameter values in contrast with the results from rigorous treatment of non-linear regression model involving the least-square method. In particular, we compare the values of the unknown parameters and their uncertainties in several variants in the linearized and non-linearized model, providing monitoring of a small deviation of the Mayer’s linearization. The results, presented here, show that despite the conceptual and computational simplification of the Mayer’s method, such an approach to data processing can be exploited, with an acceptable level of accuracy, in several practical situations even today

Competence management in industrial engineering departments in the Czech Republic

This article deals with Industrial Engineering from the perspective of its appropriate incorporation into the organizational structure of a company. It is certain that it is not possible to design a universal method that will be valid for all businesses. When one creates one's own system, it is always necessary to consider the specific and unique conditions which are, undoubtedly, the size of the company, the production program, the company culture or ways of procedures. However, we can define a number of principles and recommendations that we can use on the right path to a well-functioning production system. The aim of this paper was to reflect on the position of Industrial Engineering in the organizational structure of a company, on the job content of this department, as well as on the assessment and motivation of individual industrial engineers. At the end of the paper, the actual situation in Czech companies is outlined as is the role of Competence Management, which is based upon three determining elements: Continuous: i.e. an on-going effort. Integrated: i.e. a systematic whole of personal systems and instruments. Tuning: i.e. concerns the dynamic linking of what the company requires and what the individuals can - and are prepared, to do. In our article we would like to describe the Competence Management context in organizations that are building their own production system. It is not a matter of days, weeks or months. It's a long-running process that lasts for several years. But we are now talking about the production system in its true meaning; which means a functioning production system. We have come across many companies that "built" their production systems in a few days. Actually, for them this expression meant only a set of methods like 5S, SMED, VSM, TPM, etc., that were visualized and described in the booklet entitled "The Production System of XY Company". From our point-of-view, this is definitely not what a production system should be. A system can be interpreted in many ways and thus, the understanding of the production system can be completely different

Fuzzy přístup při určování příslušnosti obcí do venkovského a městského prostoru

Due to the ongoing changes in settlement, it is becoming increasingly difficult to properly define rural and urban areas in Czechia. This delimitation problem has been intensively studied in Europe, including Czechia, for decades, but only the “crisp” rules have been set for this purpose. This is no longer sufficient because of substantial population movements. Our research focused on applying the fuzzy set theory to the delimitation of rural and urban areas and on a subsequent visualization and statistical comparison. This paper focuses on an introduction of such approaches and aims to present the chances of using geocomputational methods in geographical research. The main result is a new methodology that applies the principles of fuzzy approach (fuzzy sets and numbers operations, fuzzy regulation) on socio-economic data to show the transitional character of municipalities. Two ways of fuzzy approach, the easy-to-obtain Łukasiewicz T-norm and the more complex fuzzy regulation, are used in order to demonstrate its advantage over the Boolean logic procedure in the delimitation of rural and urban areas.15618
